The Girl in Couture is going on TV!

I’m very excited to announce that The Girl in Couture is going on TV!

Thanks to an amazing opportunity from Rogers TV – Mississauga, I’ll be hosting and producing a fashion show titled after my blog. I couldn’t be more thankful that my internship and hard work has paid off and only two years after launching this blog it will have a spin off on-air.

Not only am I excited but I’m extremely eager to learn more about the industry and get a chance to develop my on-air personality.

Stay tuned for more details, but I promise this show will be packed with the latest trends, amazing bloggers, fashion shows, and behind the scenes interviews with PR professionals working in the industry.

Thanks for all the support I’ve been getting!

Love always,

The Girl in Couture.

OOTD: Hello Spring!

Warm weather is finally here and I couldn’t be happier. The dreadfully long winter here in Toronto has come to an end and it’s beginning to feel a lot like spring.

Last weekend I switched between seasonal wardrobes (never enough closet space for everything all year long) and dug up my spring/summer clothes. Needless to say, I NEED to go shopping for a few key essential pieces to add to my closet for this season but I’m so glad to finally be wearing bright colours, like I did yesterday. Check it out…

IMG_9171If you haven’t put two and two together, I love colour-blocking and gold accents! The whole green and pink combo might just be one of my favourites, I feel like they always look so classy together.

And maybe I haven’t gotten the memo about whether gold chain necklaces are in or out, but as long as I can find a chic outfit that works with it, I will continue wearing them; I love how quickly a thick gold chained necklace heightens a look overall.

New Years’ Shopping Guide

Have you left everything to the last minute again? NYE is just around the corner and maybe you haven’t even started shopping for your night out in the city. Stress no more, this shopping guide is your one stop check list for everything you’ll need!!

1) The Outfit

Deciding what to wear for New Years can be tricky, but it shouldn’t be. Figure out what you’ll be doing and this will be easier. If you’re going to a club or party, keep in mind that you should take advantage of the occasion and dress up a little.

dresses

These two dresses are great examples of what you could wear. The one on the left has amazing gold lace detailing and won’t need much work to get you ready for your night out. The one on the right is an all black sequin dress.. and you can’t go wrong with sequins on New Year’s. The only thing I would change about the black look is the tights, I’d pick a sheer black rather than the jet black the model is wearing. Both these dresses are from Le Chateau and can be bought on their website or in stores.

2) The Clutch

Let’s face it, NYE can get sloppy sometimes and we tend to get a little forgetful as the night goes on. Having a perfect clutch that will hold all your precious belongings is essential. If you’re wearing a solid colour from head to toe, pick out a clutch with some glitter, it will definitely spice up your look. The most important thing to remember when shopping for a clutch for New Year’s is to pick one out that has a crossover chain, so you don’t leave it sitting on a table somewhere. The one below is from Aldo, which has some amazing clutches in stores now!

3) The Lipstick

This one is easy, pick a great lipstick to throw in your clutch. Go for that bold red you’re usually afraid of wearing or that dark purple you wouldn’t dare to wear to work. It’s NYE and no one will be able to judge your choice in colour!

4) The Shoes

Maybe the most important of them all… what to wear on your feet! NYE is a LONG night, but if you’re like me, heels are the only answer. I’ve never been a fan of carrying a pair of flats in my purse and changing into them half way through the night either. Pick a comfortable heel from the start. If you’re living in a city that is covered in snow right now, it might work to your advantage. Try finding a heeled bootie that usually has a thicker (more comfortable) heel! But if you have a pair of heels you’re dying to wear that you bought 3 months ago and haven’t had to chance to wear yet, then check out my older post, Easy Steps to Painless Heels.

Holmés Birkin

We’ve seen it everywhere… classic logos being mimicked and slapped on a t-shirt. This one by trdmrk is no different.

This recreation of the iconic Hermés logo, especially the use of the company’s signature orange colour was impossible to turn down! I kept the look simple for the occasion by wearing a pair of Levis jeans and bringing out my authentic birkin bag.

Check out TRDMRK to see more ad buster clothing and maybe even order some yourself.

Andrew Marc: Noir Collection

An American brand straight out of New York City, that has me drooling over each piece in his latest sleek, sexy and edgy collection.

Marc mixed in some great designs and put leather to good use. The use of asymmetric lines, shoulder pads, bralettes and quitted jackets come together to create Noir,  a luxury sportswear collection.

The whole collection can be seen on the official website: Andrew Marc

Back to Work

I’m hoping this post will make up for my inexcusable absence; the craziness of my university career wrapping up caught up with me. But now that I’m FINALLY done, be ready for some awesome and creative posts. I wore this outfit on my last day of school a few days ago. I’ve been trying to incorporate more and more colour into my look lately; this light blue basic t-shirt with a leather pocket accent caught my attention right away. I wore it will these black leggings and a denim black jacket. Gold accessories and leather boots… you know the drill.

HIP & BONE

Prepare to fall in love.

Are you ready?

Hip and Bone is a Montreal based company with such a unique and simplistic vision for fashion. In July of 2013, designer Carlos Fogelman won the Mercedes-Benz Start Up Canadian Designer contest. His designs are slowing popping up and I’m loving them.

Such brilliance behind these designs, I’m obsessing over the clean look and attention to details, especially with the zippers in the men’s pants.

Male-focused, but no reason why a girl with style couldn’t spice up a pair of leather pants or croc-detailed fitted and make it her own. Take the challenge. These pieces are so versatile and easy-to-wear, especially with the cold season upon us.
