Must-Have Winter Footwear

New season, new trends. Don’t get overwhelmed, just follow the tips in this article to find out what essential footwear you need for your winter collection.

1) Laced Combat Boots

Whether you picked up a fabulous pair last season or you want to treat yourself to newer pair, combat boots are a must for the winter season. They make the perfect shoe for a casual look and can easily be dressed up. While you can purchase brown or beige combat boots, I’d stick to the basic black, since you’ll get the most of them for the whole season. As for length, the under-the-knee combat boots went out of style last season, so stick to the ankle length we’re all used to.

2) Heeled Booties

This is an obvious one. The style is totally up to you; you can choose to wear a nubuck style or a classic round toe suede buckle up – but booties are a must for the season because they can be used to easily dress a look up without needed to throw on bulky jewellery. It’s an easy fix that will make a lasting impression.

OOTD: Dress Me Up, Dress Me Down

DSC_0009One of the best things about fall approaching is the ability and ease of modifying an outfit. Dressing a look up or down becomes much easier! This look I’m wearing above, for example, started as a more business-casual look! Running in and out of meetings in the morning I wore a pair of heels and leather jacket. But as the day continued, going to the mall and out for dinner in that outfit wasn’t an option.

DSC_0025I decided to ditch the heels and opted out for my super low-cut Converses and traded the blazer for this baggy knit cardigan. Both were really simple and easy day looks. Minimal jewellery in both – never forget any metal watch makes a little statement on its own.

How do you dress your looks up and down?

OOTD: Something Blue

Been a while since I’ve written one of these, feeling a little rusty but all for good reason! Regardless if the posts stop the fashion doesn’t – check out my outfit from last night!

While sometimes my look is more edgy, most times it’s classic chic. Last night I wore these great pair of flared jeans with a white quitted t-shirt. I wasn’t in the mood for any chunky statement necklaces so I kept it light with this blue stone necklace. Finally finished the look with some pumps and my new favourite orange tote!

Let me just take the time to also say that I’m a huge believer in jeans being just about the best invention in the world! Their versatility and comfort level make them my go-to bottoms when creating any look!!

OOTD: Hello Spring!

Warm weather is finally here and I couldn’t be happier. The dreadfully long winter here in Toronto has come to an end and it’s beginning to feel a lot like spring.

Last weekend I switched between seasonal wardrobes (never enough closet space for everything all year long) and dug up my spring/summer clothes. Needless to say, I NEED to go shopping for a few key essential pieces to add to my closet for this season but I’m so glad to finally be wearing bright colours, like I did yesterday. Check it out…

IMG_9171If you haven’t put two and two together, I love colour-blocking and gold accents! The whole green and pink combo might just be one of my favourites, I feel like they always look so classy together.

And maybe I haven’t gotten the memo about whether gold chain necklaces are in or out, but as long as I can find a chic outfit that works with it, I will continue wearing them; I love how quickly a thick gold chained necklace heightens a look overall.

Back to Work

I’m hoping this post will make up for my inexcusable absence; the craziness of my university career wrapping up caught up with me. But now that I’m FINALLY done, be ready for some awesome and creative posts. I wore this outfit on my last day of school a few days ago. I’ve been trying to incorporate more and more colour into my look lately; this light blue basic t-shirt with a leather pocket accent caught my attention right away. I wore it will these black leggings and a denim black jacket. Gold accessories and leather boots… you know the drill.

HIP & BONE

Prepare to fall in love.

Are you ready?

Hip and Bone is a Montreal based company with such a unique and simplistic vision for fashion. In July of 2013, designer Carlos Fogelman won the Mercedes-Benz Start Up Canadian Designer contest. His designs are slowing popping up and I’m loving them.

Such brilliance behind these designs, I’m obsessing over the clean look and attention to details, especially with the zippers in the men’s pants.

Male-focused, but no reason why a girl with style couldn’t spice up a pair of leather pants or croc-detailed fitted and make it her own. Take the challenge. These pieces are so versatile and easy-to-wear, especially with the cold season upon us.

My favourite season is upon us! Deep rich colours, knee-high boots, cardigans and infinity scarves! The best time to mix and match sensual colours and layer your favourite pieces on top of each other.

I love the look of a dark colour top underneath a lighter cardigan! I kept the look clean and simple by pairing it with a pair of jeans and a white infinity scarf! So easy, so warm and as comfy as it gets in terms of style!
