Statement Earrings: The Chicest Way to Accessorize this Season

Statement earrings are making their way into the summer trends for 2015. Much like statement necklaces, they require little effort but make a huge impact to an outfit.

Fall-Fashion Lookbook: Day in the City

As promised, I’ve decided to create a lookbook of different fashion looks any girl can achieve. We’ve seen the everyday chic look and a night out with the ladies; up next is the fashionable way to spend a day in the city.

No secret here, the shirtdress is exactly what it sounds like! A dress, that fits like an oversized shirt – making it not only comfortable, but stylish!
This summer and curving into fall, these dresses came in all types and styles, and luckily they’re here to stay. The perfect shirtdress accents your body without forcing you to wear a push-up bra, uncomfortable undies, Spanx, or any other crazy gimmick us ladies buy into.

Not only is a dress like this great for a day out, but you can really handle anything the city throws at you (depending on what shoes you wear, but we’ll get to that a little later).

Finally, IF possible, the shirtdress you find will have pockets ! Because who doesn’t love pockets on a dress?

Fall into Fall

With the summer nights getting chiller and chiller, we’re stretching to wear everything in our wardrobe before packing them away and bringing out chunky sweaters and combat boots. But, there are three signature pieces you could add to your closet now to help make that transition into fall easier!

Baggy knit cardigan

We’ve been seeing them everywhere…these amazingly comfortable, oversized cardigans. The knit design is not only breathable but makes these the perfect sweaters to throw over any outfit. So maybe you’re wearing it over a pair of white shorts now, but in a few months you can swap those shorts for a pair of jeans or cotton dress, either way, you now have a versatile piece for both seasons.

Boyfriend jeans

Boyfriend jeans

Jeans are always a good idea, but a great pair of boyfriend jeans is essential for the seasonal switch into fall. The greatest thing about a pair of boyfriend jeans is being able to roll them up during the day and then bring them back to full length as the weather gets colder (it’s amazing how those few inches of exposed skin can make a difference in body temperature).

OOTD: Something Blue

Been a while since I’ve written one of these, feeling a little rusty but all for good reason! Regardless if the posts stop the fashion doesn’t – check out my outfit from last night!

While sometimes my look is more edgy, most times it’s classic chic. Last night I wore these great pair of flared jeans with a white quitted t-shirt. I wasn’t in the mood for any chunky statement necklaces so I kept it light with this blue stone necklace. Finally finished the look with some pumps and my new favourite orange tote!

Let me just take the time to also say that I’m a huge believer in jeans being just about the best invention in the world! Their versatility and comfort level make them my go-to bottoms when creating any look!!

Get this look – Jeans: Abercrombie & Fitch, T-shirt: Reitmans, Heels: Le Chateau, Necklace: Unknown (gift from Syria), Tote: Payless for only $12!

OOTD: BASIC

Back to school, back to basics.

The first day back is always the time to show off your summer tan, new clothes and toned figure! While some people stress, I decided to pick a basic, yet fashionable look. With that cool Canadian September wind starting to pick up, I wanted to squeeze in one more dress before the summer really ended.

Today I wore this flowy black silk dress, with a leather braided belt and a jeans jacket. Kept all jewellery simple and threw on a pair of sandals. My signature red nail polish dolled up the look a little as well.

Comfortable, “studious” and as always, chic, today’s outfit was perfect for the start of my 4th year university experience. (even though I’d much rather be at NYFW right now)

What did you wear on your first day of school? Comment or send in your pictures to girlincoutre@gmail.com

Jeans jacket: Mendocino, Dress: Guess, Sandals: Payless ($30, and they’ve lasted me 2 summers!!!), Belt: Costa Blanca

Street Fashion: Birthday Special

Celebrating a birthday is always a fun and exciting time and picking out the perfect outfit is key! Birthdays can get a little sloppy sometimes so a comfortable and classy look that will support you after a few tequila shots is important!

Luckily my best friend Huda Hajjaj knew all this before going out for her birthday a few days ago! Check out this little fashionista’s (in-the-making) outfit…

Huda pieced together a look completely from GUESS, consisting of a stunning pair of shorts with beading details along the hips, and a tugged-in flowy tank top which also had metal details to compliment the shorts.

Of course the look wouldn’t be complete with a pair of great Anna Sui sandals, her signature Michael Kors watch and a ‘Birthday Girl’ pin!

Summer Dresses, Dress for Summer

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, summer is dress season! Finding chic and wearable dresses that are fun and flirty is a must!

While shopping on The Outnet, I couldn’t help but share some great dresses by Tibi.

Tibi is an American brand, founded in New York by Amy Smilovic. The designer partnered up with Octavia Hyland to create the world-famous brand that it is today! The company started by only designing dresses (duh), but has grown to be an eleven collection line a year.

I’ve picked out my three favourites from the sale on THE OUTNET, check them out!

Perfect for the summer; simply, chic and affordable! What more could a girl ask for?
