One of the best things about fall approaching is the ability and ease of modifying an outfit. Dressing a look up or down becomes much easier! This look I’m wearing above, for example, started as a more business-casual look! Running in and out of meetings in the morning I wore a pair of heels and leather jacket. But as the day continued, going to the mall and out for dinner in that outfit wasn’t an option.
I decided to ditch the heels and opted out for my super low-cut Converses and traded the blazer for this baggy knit cardigan. Both were really simple and easy day looks. Minimal jewellery in both – never forget any metal watch makes a little statement on its own.
How do you dress your looks up and down?

Nothing makes an outfit more fashion forward than great shoes and an even better purse. As you transition into the next big chapter of your life, your fashion choices will change. These top five purses are essential pieces every girl in her twenty’s should have in her closet!
Your early twenty’s means you’ve finally finished school and are entering the business world and nothing says businesswoman better than a Hermés Birkin. Classy, structured and durable for those commutes to the city, this purse will make a statement and go great with any outfit. Although most people opt-out for a colourful Birkin, I’d stick to a more neutral colour, like brown, beige, black or white. Don’t worry, you’re only twenty-something, the next one you buy can be any colour you desire!
So you’re in a hurry on a Saturday morning running all the errands you skipped out on during the week and you don’t need a purse with a lot of zippers and pockets slowing you down. An everyday tote is a must-have for all your busy days. The open concept and simplicity will make it easy to find everything you need without ruining that fresh manicure.
The greatest thing about being in your twenty’s is the freedom without the heavy load of responsibility! It’s a time to have fun with your closest girlfriends and go on a lot of dates until you find “the one” (if that still exists). Nonetheless, you will always need a simple, yet classic clutch and what’s more chic than Chanel?

FASHION ALERT FASHION ALERT!
Ring the alarm because I’ve found a steaming hot collection by Walter Baker for this season. I’ve picked out some of my favourite looks, check them out:
Baker’s mix of media, cuts and fabric makes this line a must have. But let’s be honest, on top of all that, it’s that edgy, black and fierce essence the collection has that makes it drool-worthy! Perfectly crisp details and pop of colour are what differentiate this collection for the same repetitive stuff we’ve been seeing lately.
I’m extremely impressed and overly joyed by the genius of this collection. Safe to say all these items have made it to my want list. Make sure to check it out on Walter Baker’s Official Website now!
Been a while since I’ve written one of these, feeling a little rusty but all for good reason! Regardless if the posts stop the fashion doesn’t – check out my outfit from last night!
While sometimes my look is more edgy, most times it’s classic chic. Last night I wore these great pair of flared jeans with a white quitted t-shirt. I wasn’t in the mood for any chunky statement necklaces so I kept it light with this blue stone necklace. Finally finished the look with some pumps and my new favourite orange tote!
Let me just take the time to also say that I’m a huge believer in jeans being just about the best invention in the world! Their versatility and comfort level make them my go-to bottoms when creating any look!!
Get this look – Jeans: Abercrombie & Fitch, T-shirt: Reitmans, Heels: Le Chateau, Necklace: Unknown (gift from Syria), Tote: Payless for only $12!
I’m all for changing with the trends and even being a trendsetter, but I’m also one of those people who continue wearing something “out of fashion” if I still find ways to make them look fashionable!
The craze over skulls has definitely diminished, but the skull detailed scarf I wore last night is still one of my favourites and I have NO problem wearing it!
Here’s my look for yesterday,
I kept the look casual for the occasion but used yellow for a pop of colour! Rolled up my old jeans and throw on my converses for an extremely comfortable but fashion forward look! What do you guys think??
Grey Cardigan: Costa Blanca, Yellow tank-top: H&M, Jeans: Urban Behaviour, Scarf: Zara
Like most highly-anticipated fashion events; the 2014 Met Gala featured some hits and misses. This year fashion idols and A-list celebs came together in New York City for the “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” exhibit.
Out of all the looks that walked the red carpet that night, three stars caught my eye and got my shopoholic juices going…
1) Sarah Jessica Parker in Oscar De La Renta
This gorgeous black and white gown screams the SJP style. Simple, yet extremely classy, her statement as a fashion icon was clear.
2) Emma Stone in Thakoon
This fun, flirty and two-toned outfit was flawless. The simple and youthful elegance behind this look has already escalated into a trend retailers and bloggers are mimicking.
3) Rita Ora in Donna Karan
WOW!! This look had me speechless! Only someone like Rita could pull off a look like this so effortlessly.
Now, moving on to the dreadful misses… Kate Upton, Lupita Nyong’o and Kristen Stewart take the cake…
While some people loved these three looks, I found them sloppy, dated and tacky! Just goes to show that style isn’t solely based on designer brands but rather how an outfit is pieced together.
What looks did you love or hate? Share them with me and we’ll see what next year has to offer at the Met.
Warm weather is finally here and I couldn’t be happier. The dreadfully long winter here in Toronto has come to an end and it’s beginning to feel a lot like spring.
Last weekend I switched between seasonal wardrobes (never enough closet space for everything all year long) and dug up my spring/summer clothes. Needless to say, I NEED to go shopping for a few key essential pieces to add to my closet for this season but I’m so glad to finally be wearing bright colours, like I did yesterday. Check it out…
If you haven’t put two and two together, I love colour-blocking and gold accents! The whole green and pink combo might just be one of my favourites, I feel like they always look so classy together.
And maybe I haven’t gotten the memo about whether gold chain necklaces are in or out, but as long as I can find a chic outfit that works with it, I will continue wearing them; I love how quickly a thick gold chained necklace heightens a look overall.
With love always,
The Girl in Couture XO
